Ban Ki-moon meets Li Nong-ha again; Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Conference will shine in Hong Kong

On August 22, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, held his second working meeting with Li Nonghe, general convener of the Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Conference and Chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Industry and Commerce Associations, at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. The meeting confirmed that the Global Presidents’ Conference will be held grandly at the Asia Television in Hong Kong from November 18 to 19 this year.

“World Peace and Development, Asia-Pacific Economic Prosperity”

 The Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Cooperation Committee is an international NGO organization registered in the United States in 2018 and jointly initiated by the World Chinese Business Council, the Global Cooperation Foundation, the World Korean Trade Association, the World Association of Top Scientists, and the German Enterprise Federation. In 2019, the first preparatory committee meeting was held at Hangzhou Zhongnan Group. Wang Zhixiong, then chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang Jianyi, chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wu Yijian, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Zheng Yuanbao, chairman of the China People’s Electric Group, Wu Jianrong, chairman of the board of directors of Zhongnan Group, He Shijin, vice president of Hengdian Group Holdings Co., Ltd., and 60 other leaders of China’s top 500 companies attended the meeting.

Li Nonghe, on behalf of the Council of the Congress, went to South Korea to formally meet with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and submit the letter of appointment, which the latter gladly accepted.

When discussing the conference with Lee Nong-hak in South Korea a few days ago, Chairman Ban Ki-moon reiterated: “The world urgently needs such a conference to stimulate the global economy, Hong Kong needs such a forum to promote the future, and China also needs such a conference to expand the ‘Belt and Road’.” He has high expectations that this conference will bring sustainable development to the Asia-Pacific and even global economy.

Liu Mengxiong, executive chairman of the conference, retired member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Hong Kong, and member of the Strategic Development Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, said: “Thousands of listed companies in Hong Kong are expected to actively participate in this summit. Their resource reorganization, asset allocation and cooperation with mainland Chinese companies, as well as international capital’s investment in Hong Kong stocks are one of the highlights of this summit.”

        Sun Fang, co-chairman of the conference and chairman of the Foundation for Global Cooperation, said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Forum on Global Cooperation. He will actively leverage the 25 years of accumulation of the Forum on Global Cooperation and join hands to strongly support the successful convening of the Hong Kong Summit.

        Deng Junjie, co-chairman of the conference and chairman of the board of directors of Hong Kong Asia Television, expressed his hope that the event could be held in the Asia Television building. The 2,000-square-meter studio of Asia Television was once the most luxurious studio with the best configuration in Asia. More than 40 Miss Asia finals were recorded in this studio. Many Hong Kong stars and Miss Asia will also make a wonderful appearance at this summit.

        Secretary-General of the organizing committee of the conference, co-sponsor Tu Lihua, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Wang Ping, Vice President Gong Gaofeng, Wen Gongzi, Vice President Han Shengli, Chairman of the Overseas Project Committee of the World Chinese Business Promotion Association Hua Zan, Secretary-General of the Project Committee Lin Ruibin, and Executive Director of the Project Committee Xiao Shuanglong successively revealed to reporters: “Although the time of this Hong Kong Summit is tight, the organizing committee strives to make it the highest level event since Hong Kong’s return to China and directly promote economic cooperation. Many provincial and municipal government leaders or economic development zones in mainland China and thousands of chamber of commerce presidents at home and abroad will attend the conference together to seek win-win cooperation.”

        The conference plans to invite Angela Merkel, Elon Musk, Masayoshi Son, Dhanin Xie, Cao Dewang, Jack Ma, Jensen Huang, Peter Wang, Terry Gou, Stanley Ho, Huong Hsiao-ge, Pansy Ho, Victor Li, Yu Minhong, Zheng Yuanbao, Wu Jianrong, Shi Guilu, Dong Mingzhu, Yan Jiehe, Lang Xianping and Nobel Prize winners in science to attend or be guest speakers.

Secretary-General Tu Lihua also revealed that the Hong Kong Summit coincided with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the World Chinese Business Council! The World Chinese Business Council was established in Hong Kong in 1990 under the guidance and concern of the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Zhuang Shiping. The original intention of establishing the Council was to actively respond to reform and opening up, introduce funds, projects, talents and build international channels for the provincial and municipal governments of mainland China.
