Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents’ Conference to be held in Hong Kong
On August 22, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, held his second working meeting with Li Nonghe, the general convener of the Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Conference and Chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Industry and Commerce Associations, in Seoul, South Korea, and confirmed that the Global Presidents’ Conference will be held grandly at the Asia Television in Hong Kong from November 18 to 19 this year.

The Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Cooperation Committee is an international NGO organization jointly registered in the United States by the World Chinese Business Council, the Global Cooperation Foundation, the World Korean Trade Association, the World Association of Top Scientists and the German Enterprise Federation. In 2019, Wang Zhixiong, Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang Jianyi, Chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wu Yijian, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and leaders of China’s top 500 companies, Zheng Yuanbao, Wu Jianrong, He Shijin, Wu Yijian, Lin Duansheng, Dai Yuqiang, etc., convened the first board of directors and invited former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as the first chairman.
Ban Ki-moon recently met with Lee Nong-hak in South Korea and stressed that the world urgently needs a global business organization to boost the economy, Hong Kong needs such a forum to promote the future, and China also needs such a conference to expand the Belt and Road Initiative. He has high expectations for this conference to contribute to the sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific and even global economy.
Sun Fang, co-chairman of the conference and chairman of the Foundation for Global Cooperation, said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Forum on Global Cooperation. He will actively leverage the 25 years of accumulation of the Forum on Global Cooperation and join hands to ensure the successful convening of the Hong Kong Summit.
Deng Junjie, co-chairman of the conference and chairman of the board of directors of Hong Kong Asia Television, said that the 2,000-square-meter top-level luxurious studio in the Hong Kong Asia Television building will host this grand event, and many Hong Kong stars and Asian sisters will make a wonderful appearance.
Secretary-General of the organizing committee of the conference, Tu Lihua, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Wang Ping, Vice Presidents Gong Gaofeng, Wen Gongzi, Han Shengli, Chairman of the Overseas Special Project Committee of the World Chinese Business Association, Hua Zan, Secretary-General of the Special Project Committee, Lin Ruibin, Executive Director of the Special Project Committee, Xiao Shuanglong and others said that although time is tight, the entire organizing committee will strive to make this conference the highest level of economic cooperation event since the return of Hong Kong. The advisory group of this summit is composed of hundreds of political and business celebrities such as Zeng Yucheng, Zeng Junhua, Shao Jiahui, Cheng Yan, Wu Zhiliang, and Bei Junqi, the Hong Kong Importers and Exporters Association, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce, Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce, Fujian Chamber of Commerce, Anhui Chamber of Commerce, Shandong Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong Listed Companies Alliance. Institutions such as HSBC are expected to become title sponsors.
The organizing committee will also invite Angela Merkel, Elon Musk, Masayoshi Son, Dhanin Xie, Cao Dewang, Jack Ma, Jensen Huang, Wang Yongxiang, Terry Gou, Stanley Ho, Shong Hsiao-ge, Pansy Ho, Victor Li, Yu Minhong, Zheng Yuanbao, Wu Jianrong, Shi Guilu, Dong Mingzhu, Yan Jiehe, Lang Xianping, Ying Chirong and Nobel Prize winners in science to attend or be guest speakers.
This Hong Kong Summit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the World Chinese Business Council. The World Chinese Business Council was planned and established in Hong Kong in 1990 under the guidance and care of the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leaders Zhuang Shiping and Chen Xiangmei. At that time, the original intention of establishing the Council was to actively respond to the reform and opening-up strategy of the chief architect Deng Gong and to build an international channel for the introduction of funds, projects and talents to the Chinese mainland. 35 years later, the Global Chamber of Commerce Presidents Cooperation Committee, which was initiated and established with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce as the core, is using concrete actions to implement the Chinese government’s “Community of Shared Future for Mankind” and the “Belt and Road” Chinese plan.
