Warm congratulations to Mr. Mahama, Honorary Chairman of Africa and former President of Ghana, on his election as the new President of Ghana

The Ghana Electoral Commission announced on the 9th that Ghana’s National Democratic Congress presidential candidate and former President John Dramani Mahama won the 2024 presidential election.

Ghana Electoral Commission Chairman Mensah said at a press conference that evening that Mahama won 56.55% of the votes in the 267 constituencies where the vote count had been announced, while his main rival, the ruling New Patriotic Party presidential candidate and current Vice President Mahmadu Bawumia, won 41.61% of the votes, ranking second. Even if Bawumia won all the valid votes in the remaining nine constituencies, it would not change the election results and Mahama would win the presidential election.

Ghana held presidential and parliamentary elections on the 7th, with more than 18 million voters voting to elect the president and 276 members of parliament. Mahama said on social media on the 8th that he won the presidential election and had received congratulations from Bawumia. Bawumia admitted defeat in a televised speech and congratulated Mahama on his victory.
